You may have heard of the recent outbreaks of Whooping Cough, also known as Pertussis. In our clinic alone, we’ve already seen 3 cases of the whooping cough over the last few months.
Whooping cough is a disease that affects the lungs. Pertussis bacteria are spread from person to person through the air. A person with pertussis develops a severe cough that usually lasts four to six weeks or longer. Pertussis can be very serious, especially in infants.
It has been years since the Health Department has vaccinated for whooping cough. Because of this it has put us and our children at risk. What’s more, parents can transmit it to their children without even realizing it. This can put their weaker bodies at risk.
Encourage your employees to get vaccinated with the TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccination.
For your convenience Summit Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine provides onsite TDaP vaccinations. In the long run this will protect your employees and their families.
